Investment Banking Recruiting Tracker: Open Programs, Deadlines and Alerts
A recruiting tracker keeps every program you care about in one place: when it opens, when it closes, the apply link, and where you are in the process. With applications opening earlier every cycle and some closing within weeks, tracking your target firms is the simplest way to avoid missing a window.
Why you need a tracker
Investment banking recruiting does not run on one calendar. Bulge brackets, elite boutiques and middle-market banks open at different times, some programs are rolling, and deadlines can land in the middle of finals. Candidates who apply to 30 or more programs routinely lose track of which ones they have actually submitted.
A good tracker answers three questions at a glance:
- What is open right now?
- What closes soon?
- Where am I with each firm?
How the ApexIB Recruiting Tracker works
Every major program in one list
Bulge brackets, elite boutiques and middle-market banks for the current summer analyst cycle, each with its open date, deadline, location and apply link when known. Filter by category and sort by deadline.
Checked every day
Program details come from student submissions and a daily check against each firm's own careers page. Every change is reviewed before it goes live, so dates are not guesses.
Your own pipeline
Mark each program as Interested, Applied, Online assessment, First round, Superday, Offer, Rejected or Withdrawn, and add private notes. Your dashboard shows your next deadlines and how many processes you have going.
Alerts for your target firms
Pick target firms when you sign up and their programs are tracked automatically. You get a notification when a program opens and another three days before its deadline, plus a short daily email digest so nothing slips.
How to use a tracker well
- Set your targets early. Add firms before applications open, so the opening alert reaches you on day one rather than a week later.
- Apply early, even to rolling programs. Rolling usually means interview slots fill as applications come in.
- Update your stage the same day. A tracker is only useful if it is current. It takes five seconds after you submit.
- Pair it with networking notes. Knowing you have two contacts at a firm changes how you write your application and what you say in "Why this firm?"
What to do when a program opens
Same day: submit, or block time to submit within 48 hours.
That week: reach out to anyone you have spoken with at the firm to let them know you applied.
Before any interview: run a mock with that firm selected so you rehearse a real "Why this firm?" answer.
Frequently asked questions
When do investment banking summer analyst applications open?
For many large banks, more than a year before the internship starts, and the window keeps moving earlier. Exact dates vary by firm, which is why tracking specific programs matters more than a general calendar.
How accurate are the dates in the tracker?
Dates come from student submissions and a daily check of each firm’s careers page, and every change is reviewed before it is published. Always confirm on the firm’s own posting before a deadline.
Can I get notified when a bank opens applications?
Yes. Programs at your target firms, or any program you mark as Interested, trigger an alert when they open and again three days before the deadline.
Is the Recruiting Tracker free?
Yes. The tracker and its alerts are available on every ApexIB account.
